Not just a One, Two or Three trick pony

I really like my blog. It allows me to write about my fitness routine and see how people from across the world react to my physical change in appearance.

I'm still pissed that my abs don't show yet!!

Oh well...still a work in progress...

One thing having this blog has taught me (just based on the google searches that find me) is that pretty much everyone in the world is insecure about themselves.

Maybe that's just part of the human experience.

Anyway, I may still be insecure about my appearance but I'm certainly no longer shy about it. And that, my friends, is progress.

My wife can hardly get me to put a shirt ON anymore.

Keeping it simple

It's so easy to get caught up in hype.
There is simply way too much hype about every product on the market.

This product makes you cut, this product with make you big, this product will do this...this product will do that.

The key issue I see in the suppliment market is that nobody is required to actually provide proof that the products do what they say they do. Fortunately in Canada it is against the law to advertise products of this nature (although you can buy them). That doesn't mean that they aren't big business though.

GNC, the suppliment store that I go to, is full of magic pills and powders and sometimes I even catch myself looking to boost my performance with some new magic pill. Truth is though, I stay focused.

So far a high protein, low calorie diet has worked very well for me to help me gain muscle mass while losing excess body fat.

As far as weight loss goes I've stopped my net loss cycle and have landed at a very comfortable 160 lbs. Now I'm at equal ration muscle gain/fat loss and down to 17.1% body fat (assuming I'm measuring this correctly).

So the only suppliments I'm still taking are a whey protein shake (nothing else in it) and 2 multi-vitamins and 2 L-Arginine 1000 Mg tablets. For me, this seems to be a winning combination that I'm going to stick with.

Best Shape of my Life

So happy to report that I've been back at it this week.
I started feeling better last Friday so when Saturday rolled around I was so game to get back to it that I did a really thorough workout. How I missed it.

No new pictures this week except for these few.
My lovely wife Karla, my cousin Tina and I all attended an NHL game between the Leafs and the Rangers.

Needless to say, Toronto lost...but I had a helluva fun time even though you can see me holding a 10 dollar beer.

It was the first NHL game I'd ever been to see in person and all I can say is that it's way more fun to be there.

I'm still here

Hey everyone...I'm still here. Just have a bad cold that pretty much grounded my workout routine for about half a week now.

Lots of vitamin C and rest! I'm hoping to be back at it soon. I'm missing the burn!!

Measuring Success

I've talked a LOT about measuring success. How do you define good and how to do measure your own results when, really, strength training and muscle building is a more a competition of the mind.

Big Realization of the week: Realized I have "above average" biceps. Average male bicep is 12.6 inches in circumference.

This never occurred to me until I had a hard time fitting my arm into the free Blood Pressure machine at the pharmacy which accepted a bicep up to 13 inches in diameter. I had used that machine MANY times in my life (mostly prior to losing weight) so it was shocking to see not only that my arm is getting close to too big but also that my blood pressure and resting heart rate are at a better than average level.

Onto new horizons:
I've finally determined (at least for the next little while) where my goals lay.
I'm basing my goals towards the "Grecian Ideal". Yes, this means I want to be sculpted like the statue of a Greek God. Yes...this probably means my wife is correct in trying to have me tone down my ego today, let alone once I reach "Greek God" physical status.

Want to see how you measure up? Try it out here. You need to know the diameter of your wrist in inches.
